About the event
You are invited to join in a night of ritual with dance, circle and… a picnic!
We will be out under the stars, around the fire connecting to the Earth beneath our feet and the Earth within.
Earthdance was conceived and first danced here in Alice Springs 8 years ago. This is a space for us to connect in to this ancient land and our ancient selves, a deep remembering. We will take you on an embodied journey through the elements, deep into our soulful connection. It is a freeform dance, so there is no need for dance experience.
So come and join us with picnic feasting, fireside sharing, dancing and journeying deep down into our Earthly roots. You are welcome to just come for the dance if a picnic isn't your style...

Our guide for the night is Karla Riddell, the co-founder of Earthdance. She has been holding these ceremonies in Melbourne since her return from the desert in 2016. These ancient lands hold us and nurture us, and ceremony is a way for us to give back in gratitude and devotion.
Musicians are invited to come for free and share their music round the fire afterwards.

~ We acknowledge we dance on the ancient lands of the Arrernte people. This always has and alway will be their country. We pay our respects to the people who have taken care of these lands for over 100,000 years. Thank you.

ABOUT KARLA
Karla is a healer committed to creating sacred spaces for people to connect and remember their wild nature within.
With over a decade of training and initiations in traditional healing and Shamanic practice, she holds space with a deep appreciation for land and culture. Deeply integrated with a background in Paramedicine, Karla has a lived experience of what it is to humbly serve humanity. She is also a spoken word artist and writer, naturally infusing inspiration and deep enquiry as she facilitates, speaking intuitively to what arises in the moment.
As an activist for country and custodians, Karla balances these ceremonial spaces with the acknowledgement of country and the reality of a stolen and traumatised land and people. Connecting people back to their ancient roots is at the heart of her practice as a healer and facilitator.

What do people say about it?
Earthdance is a very sacred, special heart connected event. I felt completely comfortable and held by Karla’s genuine, warm gentle spirit. Her presence and grace as a facilitator is so welcoming.

Each time I have had the joy of participating in Earthdance I have been opened up to the opportunity to really feel present in my body. The combination of dance, stillness and gentle moving meditation gave me a chance to experience what I have been struggling with mentally and emotionally.
-Alice
"What a beautiful experience! I have been to two of Karla’s Earthdance events. Karla is such a calm and comforting facilitator, she allowed me to really open up and make the most of the ceremony. I truely recommend that you try it for yourself. Thank you so much Karla for your commitment to creating an environment like this! It’s truely magical."
